Update on Remodeling

Hey, guys! Bet that you have been waiting for me to finally post pictures of the house! (Now don't get too excited, it's not finished yet) We were hoping to get some flooring done today, but we decided to focus on the stairs.

Don't worry, they will look better when they are done. This is just the start. Mom was sick of us falling down the stairs, and she hated how the stairs were pointed at the corners, so she decided to change the shape!

A Kitten Emergency!!!!!!

Today, Bon Bon decided to move the kittens to the window well. When we found out they were gone, we freaked out! We were like, "The kittens are gone!!!!" We ran around the whole yard searching and searching. Then we saw Bon Bon jump into the window well, and we knew something was up. We found all of the kittens in the window well but Copper. We ran around searching and searching again, but then at the same window well we heard a meowing. We jumped into the window well, and we searched that, and found Copper! We then moved them back into the Garbage can just in time. It started raining SO hard, and they would've drowned. So alls well that ends well, right?

May Birthday's in the Saunders Family

 Mom's Birthday
This year, Mom was turning 41. She got four daisy plants from Dad, and a BRIGHT yellow handmixer from the kids. It's a Kitchen Aid, and there were great reviews. Her dessert was nothing special just gluten free brownies for her, and for the kids there was regular brownies, titled "Brownies these are the Best", they are from our Layton ward's "Recipes Among Friends" cookbook. I will post the recipe at the end. Then after the birthday treat she and Dad went upstairs to watch a movie and they had ice cream as well.
Drew's Birthday
Today is Drew's birthday. He is turning 18. He got some cooking stuff for college. There was a spatula, some cooking spoons, a bowl, a colander, pots and pans, and some mixes. His birthday treat is Peanut Butter Cookie Brownies. You can find the recipe at this link: http://lovelylittlekitchen.com/peanut-butter-cookie-brownies/  They look REALLY good.
Brownies - These are the Best
Shauni Snow
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/3 cup cocoa (baking unsweetened)
Do not use electric mixer. Cream butter and sugar; add vanilla and eggs. Mix with wooden spoon. Add salt, flour, and baking powder. Mix with spoon well. Add cocoa last. Pour into greased 8 inch baking pan. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

Remodeling

So, for a long time, we have been remodeling, since Melody's birthday in March, and we have only gotten so far. We only started remodeling because our house flooded, and Mom decided to just remodel the whole house. So we have gotten very lucky when it comes to remodeling. I am going to post some pictures of the Music Room, there are two different shades of paint in the two different pictures, and you are going to tell me which shade you like best! Of course Mom won't take what you say into account, but it would be interesting to know what you think. So post what you think in the comments!
This one was the shade that Mom didn't like.

Mom didn't like this shade either.

Mom LOVED this shade of paint.

Love
So just post in the comments about what YOU think our house should be painted as.

Lizzy's Kitty Shop

Lizzy has been begging Mom to go visit the kitty shop. If you wondering what the kitty shop is, you will have to know this story.
Once upon a time, Mom decided that she wanted us to get two more
female cats. They were supposed to help get rid of all of the mice.
Mom found some cats in City Center, and so she decided to bring Lizzy and Emma along.
We drove to the Lady's house, and she had SO many kitties.
We picked out two, and named them Bon Bon and Pepper.
Then a couple of months later, when Mom was driving Emma home from debate,
she had brought Lizzy along, Lizzy asked, "Mom, can we go to the Kitty Shop?"
Mom asked her what that was, and she replied, "It's where we got Bon Bon and Pepper."
She also said, "There was also a purple cat there. I really want it!"
A few weeks later, Bon Bon had some kittens, and Lizzy said, "I have my Kitty Shop!"
Lizzy LOVES the cats! She has been fawning over the Kittens ALL morning! Here are some pictures of Elizabeth and the kittens. Also, if you have any names for them, post them in the comments!

Bon Bon had Kittens!

Last year Mom decided that she needed to get more cats because we were overrun by voles and mice, and we got Bon Bon and Pepper! Yesterday we got three new additions for our cat family! We don't know what gender they are, so we don't have any names for them. If you have any suggestions for what we should name them, comment!

Bon Bon's new home! We don't use this anymore, and they didn't come retrieve it,
so it has to come to some use, right?

Another Christmas tradition- Gingerbread houses

Each year is different. When I have a new baby or am pregnant, we use graham crackers. Other years, I make real gingerbread pieces. This year, however, Anne volunteered to take over the whole operation. She outdid me. She not only made real gingerbread, but she made a whole village.
Anne made herself a fancy mansion, complete with gabled roof, sugar windows, and front porch.
We put Christmas lights inside to make the windows glow.

Here is the church Anne made for Emma to decorate.
This is the school, made by Anne and decorated by Elsa.

Anne made regular houses for Caleb and Maelie to decorate.

I think I'll let Anne take over permanently!

Our favorite Christmas traditions #1

Going to see the lights at Temple Square is one of our families' VERY favorite Christmas traditions!

We are members of the LDS church, and the temple pictured above, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, is where Kendel and I were married and sealed for time and all eternity. Adult members of our church visit the temple often to do proxy ordinances for the dead, such as baptism and sealings. Only members with a recommend of worthiness from a local bishop are allowed to enter the temple, because of the sacred work that goes on within, but the grounds are open to everyone, and there are LDS guides who give tours and answer questions.

We live a distance from the Salt Lake temple, so we usually visit closer temples to do proxy work, but we do visit the temple grounds every year at Christmas time as a family because the light display is phenomenal! The grounds encompass several city blocks and are absolutely covered in lights. Plus, there is a beautiful nativity, almost life-size, with narration and music. It is pictured above, but this photo does not do it justice. Another part of the temple grounds holds nativities from countries around the world.

Christmas would not be complete for our family without this wonderful tradition! I want to post some of our other traditions this week, too, in between my sewing projects (Christmas gifts) and wrapping and baking. Don't be too surprised if they show up in January!
