Upcoming events

Happy MAY!!!
So the Scottish Festival is June 10-11, I think that Hyrum's competition is on the 11th but I am not sure so ask my mom if you are thinking about coming to that. I would definitely recommend that you do come, it will be a lot of fun!!!
Drew and I have our Magic of Disney revue on May 10-11, Tuesday and Wednesday, and I don't expect you to come as tickets are $5, but it will be a lot of fun and you get to see Drew dancing, not something I would have ever thought that I would see. Ha ha. So Have a great Mother's Day everybody and I will see you soon!!!

Late st pattys day

Happy March everybody! I was going to do a St. Patty's day post, but seeing as I'm a little late, I'll forgo the HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY! About a week ago, we had one of those spring days where you feel like you just absolutely HAVE to be outside. Here are pics from that day and others of poor Melody's future blackmail pics.

Scattish Festival 2010 (last year)

So, I am posting this on a Sunday morning, reveling in the fact that I am not at church. I am going to do sort of a mish-mash post. About the Scottish Festival from last year, of all things. Yeah, I'm really lazy. So the Scottish festival is actually really cool. You can walk around and just look through the vending booths, or they have a whole bunch of different-for lack of a better word-stages set up everywhere and you can watch different music and dance things. It's really cool. They have a lot of Irish step-dancing(what I used to do!!!), and a lot of Irish-Scottish music going on. They have a bagpiping competition, a step-dancing competition, etc. The thing is though, the festival is a couple of days, and not everything happens on the same day. I don't remember what day looked like the best to go on, of any of that, really, so I'd go on to Thanksgiving Point's website and check it out. It really is a lot of fun, even Melody enjoyed it. If you have a kilt you can wear it. In fact, if Hyrum does the competition, he'll have to wear a kilt, so you guys will have to come and tell him how COOL he looks. haha:)

third day-lexington/concord

The Smith home sits right on the road the British regulars/minute men traversed April 19, 1775

I can't remember the name of this tavern....

Walden Pond

Interior of Thoreau's cabin

Exterior of Thoreau's cabin

The Hancock-Clarke parsonage. The destination of Paul Revere and William Dawes because John Hancock (house originally belonged to Reverend Hancock, John's grandfather) and Samuel Adams were staying there and it was believed that the British regulars were going to take them prisoner.

The front of the hancock/clarke house

The Wayside house. Home of Louisa May Alcott for several years. Also, the Emerson's, and Nathanial Hawthorne lived here. It is only about 300 yards south of Orchard House, and Louisa loved this house and hated to move to Orchard House.

The Old Manse, Ralph Waldo Emerson's home. His father, the patriot preacher really fired up the countryside to patriotism. The North Bridge is just across the lawn to the right.

Bronson Alcott's School of philosophy.

Orchard House, home of Louisa May Alcott from age 13 on.

Lexington Green, site of the first encounter between the british regulars and the minute men.

The cemetery across from Lexington Green. Lots of prominent minute men and locals here.

The Harrington home.

Like I saide, a church on every corner. I could fill a whole post with just church pics!

Our rental car. We liked that we had a New York plate...

second day- cambridge area, harvard/M.I.T.

This was a cafeteria. Wow.
Harvard yard. Where the students live.

Our second day in Boston. The back bay, beacon hill, and two architecture tours.

I thought we had a lot of churches in Utah. Out here you see a church on EVERY corner! And people think our founding fathers were agnostic...
This is the back bay area, very French looking architechture.

Boston Public Library

the Holy Trinity church

We just happened upon this tour and it was SO much fun!

I love the streets/sidewalk/curbing juxtaposition SO MUCH!!! I bet I have 100 photos of just paving materials!

You definitely could not roller skate down these sidewalks.
